The draw for the Silver Boot Pre Season Competition offers an early season match-up against Capalaba and the customary Pre Season game against the Brisbane Strikers.

Last years winners, Rochedale have been drawn in a tough Group B with only the winner to progress to the Semi Final.

Q-League's benchmark team, the Brisbane Strikers, somewhat of an unknown quantity after a number of high profile departures will be looking to show that it hasn't had much of an impact on the quality of their squad. It will also be an interesting hitout for new Rochedale front man Steve Unsworth, who will front up against his former club.

Rochedale will also face Capalaba in the prestigious Pre Season Competition, giving an early preview of what should be a cracking Round 1 encounter in the league season proper. Former Assistant Coach Tim Brown takes charge of the Bulldogs and will be keen to get one up on his old club early in the year.

Many former Rovers players are currently at Capalaba, including recent first teamers Joel Drewek and Sean Curtis. Drewek was instrumental in Capalaba's victory over Rochedale late last year and will again be key for a club that is on the up.

Making up the group is Ipswich Knights. A tough, physical match is what you get from Knights and it will be no different this time. With seasoned players such as Griffiths, Parfitt, Drager and co, they gave Rochedale a scare in the Premier Cup last season before eventually being overrun towards the end. A potential banana peel for the three other sides if they aren't on their game.

For Rochedale it will be a chance to get used to life after Tim Brown. It will be a chance for new signings Unsworth, Rhys Hastings, Pablo Aviles and Goalkeeper Matt Tubbs to adjust to the squad and for the squad to adjust around them. The majority of last year's side have been retained and will be keen to avenge the heartbreak of last season's title run in, the Silver Boot providing the first step in that direction.
