CANALE CUP ROUND 3
 

Football Brisbane have conducted the draw for round 3 of the Canale Cup this past week and Rochedale will face Division One outfit Mitchelton at Teralba Park. Traditionally a very tough place to travel, Mitchelton are having an indifferent season following their relegation from the Premier League in 2009.

In their 8 games so far this season, they have 10 points, scoring 17 goals but conceding 17 goals in the process. They really are in a rebuilding phase and will be hoping for consolidation this year before making a push for promotion in 2011.

It looks like a cup run will be Mitchy's best chance of success this season but that has been made a lot harder with the 3rd round draw pairing them with Rochedale. Rochedale have been also rans in the Cup for the past few years.

Semi Final defeats in 2008 & 2009 to Peninsula Power and Brisbane City respectively, have indicated that Rovers are struggling to lift for Cup football, but it is a burning desire stated by Kieran Cooper on numerous ocassions that he wants to win everything, and this years Cup is no different.

All the signs point towards a Rochedale victory but Cup football is anything but assured and Mitchelton will be going hammer and tong to cause an upset and kick start their season. For Rovers getting the basics right will be the key on what should be a tough night at Teralba Park.
